Costs
Gliding is an amazing sport. Ask anyone who has done it. Its cheaper than most aviation activities, however for poor, skint, university students, the thought of paying for trial lessons, membership fees, aircaft hire, instructors fees..... Its all TOO MUCH!
This is why the university has generously decided to pay, leaving us students with just the cost of the aircraft hire! So, ok, thats going to be millions right? WRONG!! It only costs £6 to become a member of Salford University Gliding Club and the following fees every time you fly:
£5 for the Winch Launch
£0.25 per min for the aircraft hire.
So logically thinking about it, for a 30 min flight, its £5 for the launch plus £7.50 for the aircraft hire making it £12.50 in total. Thats just crazy talk!! Also, there are no extra training costs, so all of the ground training is free! And who said that students dont have it easy?!?!?!
To join SUGC go to the General Office in University House and say 'I want to join the Gliding Club!' then come and socialise on Monday Nights and we will get you in on the Flying Programme!!
